The 594562/A Dust Seal is a precision-engineered rubber seal that sits between the rear sprocket carrier (cush drive hub) and the rear wheel bearings. Its primary job is to block dust, mud, water, and excess chain lube from entering the bearing race.
In the high-vibration environment of a motorcycle’s rear wheel, a worn-out or hardened seal can lead to bearing “pitting,” noise, and eventual failure of the cush drive hub. Replacing this seal whenever you change your Chain-Sprocket Kit or rear wheel bearings is a standard maintenance practice to prevent expensive repairs later on.
