The 586017/C Split Pin (also known as a cotter pin) is the factory-spec locking hardware for the J-Series and 650 Twincentre stand spindles. While it may look like a standard hardware store item, this genuine RE part is made from a specific grade of malleable steel designed to be bent once and hold its shape without becoming brittle or snapping under the constant “thump” of the Royal Enfield engine.
During a centre stand service or replacement, the split pin is technically a single-use item.
